“I’ve said it before, and by gosh, I’ll say it again — don’t be afraid to toot your own horn.”

It has been often remarked, that the people have very short memory. They remember only what they have seen recently and things that get out of sight are forgotten very quickly. Now, this is a bad situation for anyone looking to start their own venture, be it a blog, a website, a company or simply some attention!
Below, I have compiled a list of 5 social networks, where all you netizens must have your web presence if you need to keep up to date with this ever changing world.
Hardly needs an introduction. This behemoth is the mother of all social networking sites and a very good way to keep up with your old friends and create new ones. Applications like Glassdoor which harness the power of Facebook to find you job opportunities are very useful too.
Another giant, this micro-blogging website has made hash-tags a craze with the modern world. People tweet about all sorts of things be it cricket matches, movies, politics, life etc etc. This one's a must have for anyone looking to increase their online presence and visibility.
Google Plus
The new kid on the block, is backed by papa Google and thus, has a pretty unfair advantage over its competitors. It may not have the same number of users as others but there are rumors saying a popular G+ post/page can do wonders for your page rank and visibility. Apart from this, G+ does have some good features. Make sure you check them out!
Arguably the largest network of professionals, LinkedIn is the best place to go if you're looking for a job or for others with similar minds. Mind you, it is generally not taken as 'casual platform' and hence, your dirty jokes and polls are best limited to twitter only. Use this one to grow your image as a professional.
Tumblr
The best network to be for bloggers, this ones a social bookmarking site wherein you can see the best content from around the world. Can be used excellently to promote your own goods if you can avoid wasting hours simply surfing the content you see on it (not an easy thing to do!)
